Four years ago, I felt frustrated with how often my kids got sick and how much money we were having to spend on doctors, specialists, pharmaceuticals, lotions, antibiotics and late night chemist trips! It was getting out of hand. We were traveling this constant cycle of sharing germs within the family, missing days from school & work and handing over hundreds (thousands) of dollars on getting us better.

Don’t get me wrong…I am not against the modern-medicine model and I am not hear to slam chemists. Modern medicine has saved my husband’s life, my life (a couple of emergency surgeries) and our children’s lives in moments of severe sickness. However, I knew there had to be a better way to PREVENT and HEAL minor sicknesses within our family without breaking the bank or upping our toxic/chemical load! I wanted to have SOME control over our health.

Both Holistic and Conventional health practices require more than one factor. There is no one magic solution in preventing, curing and warding-off diseases. It’s a WHOLE system approach.

So, for us, this means we’re now focused on what we eat, drink, inhale and topically apply. We’re a lot better at reading the signs and messages our bodies are telling us and balancing the bad with the good when it comes to diet and lifestyle.

And this is where Essential Oils have now become a non-negotiable in our monthly budget and daily use to support our HEALTH, HORMONES and HOME including our children!

In fact, it’s in our 2 children that we’ve seen the most obvious and wonderful results from using these oils daily.

Like any health support-pillar or solution, we must use these products safely. doTERRA Essential Oils are so pure that they can be used on newborn babies, however, you must use a lot less of the oil the younger the child and ALWAYS dilute with a carrier oil (fractionated coconut oil is my favourite for use on babies and kids). 1 drop of essential oil is plenty! For older children I use anywhere from 2-8 drops depending on the essential oil, the dilution ratio, the age of the child, how sensitive their skin is and what ailment/issue we’re supporting.

Here are just 8 of our favourite oils that we use daily on our two children….

LAVENDER:   - we diffuse Lavender every night to promote & support deep sleep & calm.  - a few drops into the kids bath water (helps them unwind after a big day, nourishing on the skin & promotes rest mode.  - apply to scabs, cuts, insect bites.  - we make a ‘pillow mist’ with Lavender to spray onto bedding and pillows at bedtime.  - Basically….all things SLEEP, HEAL & CALM!!!!

DigestZen to the rescue.  - can be used as a decongestant for sinus.  - travel / motion sickness.
